A new research study conducted by the University of Vermont, USA and published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics points at a strong positive correlation between blue eyes and alcohol dependency.

According to the study, blue-eyed people show a higher frequency of alcohol dependence as compared to dark-eyed people! Psychologists from the Georgia State University too have supported this theory through their research that shows an increased tendency towards alcoholism in blue-eyed people.

The reason cited behind this strange finding is that dark-eyed people tend to consume less alcohol as they feel shy to drink excessively and don’t link the need for excess alcohol consumption with intoxication. This inhibits them from developing a physiological dependence on alcohol, unlike blue-eyed people who due to their non-dependence on substances tend to cross limits and turn alcoholic.
