MTV (which was initially an initialization of Music Television) is one of the most popular music/entertainment TV channels which was launched on 1st August, 1981 at 12.01 A.M. The chief purpose of the channel was to play music videos that were guided by TV anchors (Video jockeys).

When MTV was launched the first ever words aired on it were “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll”, announced by John Lack. With that the footage of the first Space Shuttle launch countdown of Columbia was shown to the viewers. The first music video that was broadcasted on the channel was The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star”.
