Will Tik Tok users fall in love with Instagram Reels?
Tik-Tok, the social media app was banned in India and now faces a potential ban in the US, due to data security concerns. The platform gave voice and recognition to a lot of people who were more comfortable communicating through videos and the ban may have left its audience disappointed.
Facebook’s Instagram Reelshas made a just-in-time entry to bring back the excitement.
Reels allows users to create videos and add filters and music from the Instagram’s library. The same can then be shared on the feed and made available to the wider community through the newly added Instagram Explore page.Reels also has a longer shelf life and the videos are available for later viewing. To add zing to the videos, Instagram has partnered with prominent music labels to provide a wider music library the Reels’ audience.
Reels is available to Instagram users in more than 50 countries, including US. With few limitations like the 15-second durationfor videos and non-availability to ‘duet’, will Reels be able to capture the 2 Billion audience base? Only time will tell.
