New Zealand was put up for sale on eBay by someone. When the price got up to $3,000, eBay closed the auction.

An Australian citizen made an attempt to sell New Zealand on the online auction site, eBay, in May 2006 for a starting bid of AUS$0.01. He described the “product” highlighting it as “the dodgiest American Cup win ever and very ordinary weather”.

Soon after the “product” was posted on the site, it ran into over six thousand hits and attracted 22 bids. The price had already touched the AUS$3,000 mark before the bid was pulled off the site by the eBay managers as a clear violation of eBay’s policies.
