5 Bollywood star-kids who made it big as Entrepreneurs
Bollywood as an industry is often believed to support favouritism and nepotism. It is said that entry in Bollywood is easier for star kids than for those who do not have an acting background. However, not every star kid gets appreciation from the audience and some had to leave acting due to their movies not doing well at the box office.
Some of them look a leap at Entrepreneurship and have received much more success in their business than what they received as actors.
Here are five such ‘star kids’ who were not much successful in their acting career but are now managing a multicore business:
- Jackky Bhagnani
Jackky Bhagnani, the son of producer Vashu Bhagnani, is an actor, music curator, and entrepreneur and a film producer too. In 2009, Jackky made his first appearance in Bollywood with the movie Kal Kissne Dekha, which did not much admiration from the audience.
Later, he tried his acting skills in a few other films like Youngistaan, Welcome 2 Karachi, F.A.L.T.U and few others. Since he failed to make a mark as an actor, he decided to become a producer and an entrepreneur, and achieved success.
Jackky Bhagnani is the founder of the creative music label JJust music. Apart from being an entrepreneur, he is the producer of Coolie No.1 which had Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles and the soon to be released Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom.
- Twinkle Khanna
Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of famous B-town actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, is an interior designer, an author, newspaper columnist, film producer and a Bollywood actress. In the 1990s and early 2000s, she gave some noticeable performances but eventually gave up her acting career.
She is now the author of two bestselling novels Mrs Funny Bones and The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. She also owns an interior designing company by the name of The White Window. She is also the brand ambassador of Kohler, which is a global lifestyle brand. She has an estimated net worth of around $30 million.
- Tusshar Kapoor
Tusshar Kapoor, the son of popular Bollywood actor Jeetendra Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, is an actor and a film producer. He had worked in many Hindi movies such as Khakee, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, Kya Kool Hai Hum, Dhol and a few more but dint succeeded much.
Though despite being the son of a famous B-town actor, his movies failed to impress the audience. After his movies failed to rake in good numbers at the box office, he decided to open his own production house, Tusshar Entertainment House, in 2017 and has recently produced Akshay Kumar’s Laxmii.
Until 2019, Tusshar also was the Non-Independent Non-Executive director at Balaji Motion Pictures and Balaji Telefilms. He has a total worth of around $11 million.
- Uday Chopra
Uday Chopra, the son of veteran film director late Yash Chopra, is an assistant director, producer, screenwriter, and Bollywood actor. He made his first appearance on the big screen with Mohabbatein in 2000, which was a big hit.
Later he worked in a few more movies, such as Dhoom, Neal N Nikki, Pyaar Impossible and a few more. But all these movies were not much applauded by the public. While he could not make a mark as an actor in B-Town, in
2011, he decided to move to LA and found YRF Entertainment there and produced two Hollywood movies- The Longest Week and Monaco’s Grace.
He also owns a comic label named Yomics, under which he has created the comic version of his father’s super-hit movies.
- Harman Baweja
Harman Baweja, son of film director Harry Baweja and producer Pammi Baweja is a film producer, an Indian actor, and a successful entrepreneur. Harman Baweja made his first appearance on a big screen in the movie Love Story 2050, produced and directed by his own parents.
The film did not do well and according to reports, it could recover only half the amount of its 40-crore budget. He acted in a few other films, but they failed to impress the box office.
After quitting his acting career he founded a fitness brand Health Naturel’s, which became popular for launching a health supplement in 2016 called Quick Burn Plus.
He calls himself a Poker lover and owns a poker team in Raj Kundra’s poker tournament Match India Poker League. His net worth is around $5 million.
