6 Ayurvedic Remedies That May Help To Control High Cholesterol Levels

Holy Basil

High cholesterol levels are one of the leading risk factors for atherosclerosis, an artery hardening condition caused by plaque build-up.


A high cholesterol level can lead to fatty deposits to form in your blood vessels, preventing blood flow to your arteries. High cholesterol levels can also cause heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes.

In terms of preventing high cholesterol, garlic is believed to be the most effective. Combine one clove of fresh garlic, half teaspoon grated ginger root, and half teaspoon lime juice; eat this mixture before every meal.


Coriander is considered to be one of the best herbal diuretics. Basically, it rejuvenates the kidneys and helps them excrete waste more efficiently. As a result, the kidneys are able to eliminate excess cholesterol from the body. You can consume coriander with food on a daily basis.  

Holy Basil or Tulsi

Traditionally, ayurvedic practitioners have used holy basil or tulsi leaves to reduce high cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. It is used to prepare a variety of medicines. 

An effective remedy for excess cholesterol in the blood, it is a proven medicinal herb. Daily consumption of 2-3 leaves of tulsi is recommended. 

Fenugreek seeds 

There is a wide range of anti-diabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties to fenugreek seeds, thanks to its high vitamin E content.  

Taking fenugreek seed water on an empty stomach every morning may help you lose weight, and as a result, it will help control your cholesterol levels as well. 


Honey reduces fat in your system and controls cholesterol levels. In order to make it more effective, you can add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to the solution. 


Ginger can be added to your morning cuppa tea or any other time that suits you. You can also take ginger powder in the morning in the form of a honey-based drink, or you can boil it in water and drink it throughout the day.
