Apple Unveils HomeView, Its First Smart Home Display
For years, Apple watched Amazon and Google fill kitchen counters with smart displays while it stuck to speakers and streaming boxes. That changed on 13 October 2026. At its “Welcome Home” event, Apple introduced HomeView, a smart home hub with a screen that Apple pitches as the centre of the connected home.
What Is Apple HomeView?
HomeView is a compact touchscreen device built to control your smart home, keep the family organised, and bring Siri into everyday life. It has a 7-inch square Liquid Retina display that tilts for a better viewing angle and dims to almost nothing at night.
It comes in two versions. The countertop model sits on a speaker base and suits kitchens, desks and living rooms. The wall-mounted model has no base and its audio is tuned for wall placement, so it can live beside a door or in a hallway like a control panel.
The Brains Behind the Screen
HomeView runs on Apple’s A18 chip, the same family of processors found in recent iPhones, and it is built around Apple Intelligence and the new AI-powered Siri. You can ask Siri to dim the lights, lock the door or check the weather. Conversations can also carry over to your other Apple devices, so you can start a request on HomeView and pick it up on your iPhone.
Handoff works for music and recipes too. Find a recipe on your phone, pass it to HomeView, and follow along step by step while you cook, without touching your phone with messy hands.
A Screen That Knows Who’s Looking
One of HomeView’s cleverest features is personal recognition for up to six people. When a family member walks up, HomeView recognises them and switches to their own view, with their calendar, notifications and preferences. A shared device that still feels personal is something many households have wanted.
You can also customise the screen with Apple Watch-style faces that hold up to four widgets, including weather, favourite photos and playful touches like Snoopy animations.
Calls, Music and Entertainment
A 12MP front camera handles FaceTime calls. The countertop model includes two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer and passive radiators, so it doubles as a capable speaker for music and podcasts. You can stream video on it as well.
Privacy First
As always, Apple is leaning hard on privacy. The company says HomeView keeps each user’s information separate and secure, and that it doesn’t track or sell personal data. For a device with a camera sitting in your home, that promise matters.
Price and Availability
HomeView is available to pre-order , with deliveries starting 13 November 2026. The countertop model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray; the wall model in space gray and silver. At launch it supports English in several countries, including India, though Indian pricing hadn’t been widely reported at the time of writing.
The Bottom Line
HomeView is Apple’s most serious attempt yet to own the smart home. If you already live in the Apple ecosystem, it could be the missing piece that ties your devices together. The real test will be how well the new Siri performs in everyday use.
